Why is Bismuth Oxychloride used in your mineral makeup?

Bismuth Oxychloride is the provider of the pearlescent pigment. It provides excellent whiteness, brightness and smooth texture.

What does it mean that your Glycolic Acids are non-buffered?

Non-buffered means that the product has a lower pH, which is what you want in an acid (pH 1-3). Buffered Glycolics have additional ingredients with higher pHs, such as 3.5 (typical for buffered). The problem with buffered is that it is less effective in peeling and loosening the cellular glue that constructs the top dead layers of skin. Once a pH creeps towards 4, it is becoming neutral and heading towards alkaline.

pH Scale:

pH Scale

Pure water, for instance has a pH of 7 (Neutral). Most facial cleansers and creams have a pH of 4 to 8. This means they cannot penetrate the skin at all.

What is mica and why is it in your mineral makeup?

Mica in your mineral makeup is an ingredient from rocks. It is a mineral, not a protein. We use mica in our Mineral Makeup to add color and luminosity to our products. The harmful ingredient MICA is a protein. MICA is made by many types of tumor cells but not by healthy tissue. Knowing that antibodies can help coax dendritic cells into action, the scientists coated melanoma cells with antibodies to MICA, and these cells were grown in laboratory dishes alongside dendritic cells. For the purpose of shortening a long word, they use all caps, MICA. There is no similarity between the mica that appears in our products and MICA.

Are all of your products paraben free?

What is the difference between the Glycolic Peel and the Microdermabrasion Peel?

Microdermabrasion Peel Kit offer professional results in the areas of: buffing, polishing, refining, deep cleaning of pores, and reduction of surface imperfections.

Glycolic Acid Peel Kits offer a professional strength 30%, 40% & 50%. Glycolic Acid (pharmaceutical strength) offers professional results in the area of: diminishing lines, removing imperfections and darkness, decreasing acne, blackheads and oil production, increasing collagen production, smoothing, firming and evening skin tone.

What is the difference between the Pro-Med products and Retin-A?

Our Pro Med Retinol Products are naturally derived from the vitamin A molecule. The drug form that you are speaking of is a synthetic, man-made formula designed to be more aggressive than the natural formula we use. In its aggressiveness, it leaves the skin red, scaly, and irritated looking, which leaves you with unattractive skin, and the potential for severe sun damage. Pro Med Retinol is safe to use and will not cause redness or scaly flakes. Instead, your skin will look firmer, more uniform in color, and the pores will tighten. It diminishes fine lines and brown spots as well!

Application & Instructions for Use

How to I apply Mineral Makeup over oily skin?

We recommend that you use the Flocked Sponge to apply the Porcelain Finishing Powder to those areas where you skin gets oily first. Then, using either your Dome Brush or Kabuki Brush, apply your Loose or Pressed Mineral Base. Finally, to finish off we recommend applying the Porcelain Powder over your entire face to give yourself that smooth, finished look. You can also touch up oily spots, later in the day with the Porcelain Finishing Powder. You may also like our Linen Blotter Sheets to mop up the excess oils, and then apply a touch of the Porcelain. You can carry the Porcelain easily with you by placing it in our Pump Brush and popping it into your purse. Be sure to clean the bristles of the Pump Brush every week. Lastly, you can touch up with your Invisible Finishing Powder.

How do you clean makeup brushes?

Makeup brushes can harbor lots of dirt and bacteria. Frequently washing your makeup brushes will keep them - and your face - clean and healthy.

  • STEP 1: Run the bristles of the makeup brush under warm running water.
  • STEP 2: Apply a small amount of shampoo to bristles and work into a light lather.
  • STEP 3: Rinse bristles thoroughly under running water. You will notice that the water leaving the brush is tinted from old makeup.
  • STEP 4: Continue rinsing until no color leaves the brush.
  • STEP 5: Allow it to air-dry.

What do I use to apply Mineral Makeup?

Natural bristled brushes work best for and we recommend either our Kabuki or Dome brushes. For a sponge we suggest our Flocked Sponge.

Do you have samples available?

Unfortunately, we do not have samples. We do however feature trial sizes of the Loose Mineral Base. This 2 gram bases will last for at least 14 days and will give you a great sense of the product and color. It is packaged in a small jar with a shaker-sifter and a cap. We recommend that you try 2 shades. Remember, you can always mix colors for a custom match! We also have 'travel' sizes available in some of our skincare products. This also will help you try a product before purchasing the larger size.
